Peacock's 14 kills helps Raiders sweep Framingham State

(Nashua, NH) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team earned their 16 win of the season on Wednesday night as they cruised past visiting Framingham State, 3-0 in front of about 100 people inside the Muldoon Gymnasium.

The Raiders (16-9 overall, 7-1 GNAC) were pushed to the brink in the first set as they battled game point on the last few volleys. Rivier would claim a 29-27 victory on an attack error and then proceed to take the following two sets by 25-18 and 25-20.

Junior Nicole Peacock (Warwick, RI) paced the Raider offense as she had a .650 hitting percentage to go along with 14 kills – a game high. Peacock also added 3 block assists on her stellar night. Senior Kenna Finlayson (Derry, NH) knocked down 10 kills, her 7th double-digit effort in her last 8 games. Freshman libero Nikki Deluga (Cotuit, MA) had a fantastic defensive night as she recorded 11 digs.

Framingham State (19-7 overall, 5-1 MASCAC) was led by Andressa Fernandes, who had 12 kills and a .348 hitting percentage. Fernandes also had 2 block assists and a service ace in the loss. Michelle DeJesus recorded 10 digs and Kassandra Jermyn had 24 assists.

Rivier will return to GNAC action in their next matchup as they host both Mount Ida College and Simmons College in a Saturday tri-match at the Muldoon Gymnasium. The Raiders will take on the Mustangs in the first match at 10am before hosting Simmons at 2pm. Framingham will also be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Lasell College for a tri-match with the Lasers and Babson.
