Rivier Falls 11 - 10 to Norwich

(Nashua, New Hampshire) The Rivier University Men's Lacrosse team dropped a tough and tight Conference game to Norwich University 11 – 10 today at home.  Rivier moves to 10 – 6, 4 – 4 GNAC, while the win takes Norwich to 8 – 8 and 6 – 2 GNAC.  The game was tightly contested throughout.  Rivier scored with 4:04 to play in the 3rd quarter and took a two goal lead 8-6.  After a 4 goal surge from Norwich, Rivier worked back and again tied the score at 10-10 with 6:11 to play in the game.  A Norwich strike at 3:05 proved to be the difference as the Cadets held on for the 11-10 win. 

Rivier had strong performances from Colby Larsen (FR, Windham, NH) 5 goals, 2 assists, 10 shots on goal, and 1 ground ball; Liam Ryan (SO, Dorchester, MA), 3 goals, 1 assist, 5 shots on goal, and 2 ground balls; and Tyler Tambouris (SO, Hooksett, NH), 1 goal, 3 assists, 1 shot on goal, and 9 ground balls.

The visiting Cadets were paced by Josh Jenkins (SO, Centennial, CO), 5 goals, 6 shots on goal, and 2 ground balls; Ryan McCarthy (SR, Medford, MA), 3 goals and 5 shots on goal; and Michael Cashman (SO, East Kingston, NH), 2 assists, and 1 shot on goal.

Clark Plummer (SR, Londonderry, NH) made 7 saves in net for the Raiders.  For the Cadets, Ian Kriger (FR, Burlington, MA) recorded 11 saves.

Prior to today's contest, River took the time to recognize four graduating seniors:

Kevin Dembkowski (SR, Salem, NH) is a four year starter.  Kevin has started 38 games and appeared in 59.  He has scored 33 goals and assisted on 29 other scores, for a career total of 62 points.  He has also collected 82 groundballs and caused 22 turnovers.  Kevin will graduate in May with a degree in Criminal Justice. 

Cody Lynch (SR, Salem, NH) is also a four year starter and three year captain.  Lynch has started 59 of the 61 games he has played and he will leave his mark in many categories.  Cody will graduate as the Program's all-time career leader in three categories: Face-offs taken with 794, Face-offs won with 473, and Groundballs with 438.  Lynch was able to set those marks while he also contributed 69 goals and 39 assists – putting his career points total at 108.  Cody will graduate this May with a degree in Business Management and a minor in Marketing.  

Clark Plummer (SR, Londonderry, NH) is another four year starter and three year captain.  Clark Plummer is set to graduate as the program's All-Time Career Leader in every statistical category that is tracked for Goalies in lacrosse.  He is the All-Time Career Leader in Starts with 62, Saves with 781, Career Goals Against Average at 8.39, and Save Percentage at 61.4%.  Clark will graduate in May with a degree in History. 

Kyle Graham (SR, Londonderry, NH) is the third four year starter and three year captain.  Kyle also holds many All-Time marks for the program.  He will finish as the Career Leader in Goals with 105 and Assists with 104, a total that also gives him the All-Time Career Points total at 209.  Graham has also picked up 243 ground balls and caused 40 turnovers.  Kyle will graduate this May with a degree in Marketing. 

 

Next up for the Raiders is a rematch of today's game with a trip to Norwich University for a GNAC Playoff tilt on May 4th, at 7:00 pm.
