Men's Volleyball suffers first GNAC loss; fall to Lasell 3-1

(Auburndale, Mass.) The Rivier University Men's Volleyball team dropped a tough Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest this evening to the Lasell College Lasers in four sets inside the Lasell Athletic Center in Auburndale, Mass. The loss sends the Raiders' overall record back to .500 at 7-7, 3-1 GNAC while the Lasers remain red hot at 14-3 and a 5-1 conference mark.

Senior Chris Markuson (Cupertino, Calif.) paced the offense for Rivier as he hammered down 16 kills over his four sets played. Markuson also added four total blocks to his night. Sophomore setter Tyler Blank (Rochester, N.Y.) had an outstanding game along the net as he provided 46 helpers, a season high. Junior Nick Ochoa (Whittier, Calif.) and freshman Garrett Bucklin (Jamestown, R.I.) each led the team with 8 digs apiece. Senior Sam Kazlas (Allentown, Pa.) also was a bright spot for Rivier as he recorded 13 kills and a .364 hitting percentage.

Rivier will head to the Midwest for their next scheduled contests as they visit Sheboygan, Wisconsin for a 7pm match up against Lakeland College before traveling over to Kenosha, Wisconsin for a pair of tilts against Benedictine University and Carthage College.
