Field Hockey falls to Fitchburg State, 4-0

(Fitchburg, Mass.) The Rivier University Field Hockey team suffered a 4-0 setback this evening on the road against Fitchburg State University in a non-conference contest at Fitchburg's Elliot Field. The loss sends the Raiders to 4-9 on the season and the Falcons improve to 8-4 overall.

Fitchburg State received a pair of goals from Molly Richard and both Taylor Eyles and Maddie Hoffman each contributed a goal and an assist on the night.

Rivier freshman goalkeeper Katherine Papele (Swampscott, Mass.) had an impressive night as she made a total of 17 saves – on 20 shots – as she spent just 54 minutes in net. Classmate Erica Royle (Kingston, Mass.) finished the game between the pipes and stopped three of four shots she faced.

The Raider will return to action on Saturday morning as they travel to Brighton, Mass. for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference date with Simmons College. Game time is scheduled for 11:00 AM at Daly Field.
