Field Hockey tops Daniel Webster, 4-0

(Nashua, N.H.) The crosstown feud between Rivier University and Daniel Webster College on the field hockey pitch has come to an end this evening as the Raiders topped the Eagles, 4-0 at Raider Field on the Rivier campus. Rivier will forever own a 6-2 record against their crosstown foes dating back to 2009 when the Raiders renewed their Field Hockey program.

The victory sends the Raiders' overall record to 3-6 while the Eagles fall to 0-6.

Senior Brittani Garza (Alexandria, Va.) gave the Raiders a lead for good in the 14th minute as she knocked an unassisted goal past the Eagle netminder. Classmate Chelsie Hubisack-Muldowney (Windham, N.H.) would make it 2-0 in the 25th minute as she slipped a pass from fellow senior Chelsea Gomes (Epsom, N.H.).

Junior Emily Knoops (Tewksbury, Mass.) wrapped up the scoring with her first two goals of the season at 34:08 and 52:39. Her first goal was assisted by junior Marykate Sweeney (Chicopee, Mass.) and the second goal was fed from sophomore Linsey Roth (Tyngsboro, Mass.).

Freshman Erica Royle (Kingston, Mass.) made four saves on the night for her first collegiate win as she saw 35 minutes of action. Classmate Katherine Papele (Swampscott, Mass.) was between the pipes for the final 35 and did not see a shot on net.

Daniel Webster's Ashlyn Farwell (Pelham, N.H.) made a remarkable 26 saves on the evening as the Raider offense pelted 30 shots on net.

On deck for the Raiders will be another non-conference, in-state contest on Wednesday night. Rivier will welcome fellow Granite Stater, Colby-Sawyer College to Raider Field for a 7pm game under the lights. Daniel Webster will host Elms College at 12pm on Saturday afternoon.
