Baseball falls on the road to Fitchburg State, 12-0

(Rindge, New Hampshire) The Rivier University Baseball team returned to action this afternoon as they dropped a non-conference contest to Fitchburg State University, 12-0 at Pappas Field on the campus of Franklin Pierce University.

Sophomore Frederick O'Brien (South Boston, Mass.) had a hit and a stolen base while classmate Alan Nahigian (Saugus, Mass.) added two hits to account for the Rivier offense.

Four pitchers saw action this afternoon and sophomore Nicholas Pica (Hampstead, NH) took the loss after surrendering four runs, two earned, in two innings on the hill. Sophomore Matthew Keefe (Bradford, Mass.) allowed just one run over three innings and freshman Gehrig Deaver (Glenwood, NJ) pitched two scoreless for the Raiders.

Rivier will look for their first win of the season as they travel to Quincy, Mass for a 12pm Double-Header at Eastern Nazarene College on Saturday afternoon.
