Sweeney, Raiders remain undefeated at home in 2012-13

(Nashua, NH) Sophomore sensation Deanna Purcell scored 23 points as the Rivier University Women's Basketball team remains undefeated in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play with their 90-80 win over Norwich University.

The Hudson, New Hampshire native shot 8-for-18 from the field and collected 6 rebounds for the Raiders who improve to 10-5 on the season and 4-0 in the conference. Junior Ryan Baker (Whitinsville, MA) finished a rebound shy of earning a double-double as she recorded 17 points and 9 rebounds. Classmate A.J. Guidi (Derry, NH) contributed 16 points and 9 rebounds in the win. Junior Erin Sweeney (Chicopee, MA) also notched a double-digit effort as she added 12 points.

Sweeney's 3-pointer just 3 minutes into the game, gave the Raiders a lead that they would not relinquish as they led 49-36 at halftime and cruised to a 10 point win.

Sophomore Aliah Curry (Windsor, MA) shot the ball 29 times for Norwich as she had the game high 37 points in the loss. Junior Kristine Brammer (Littleton, NH) collected 11 rebounds while junior Erin Clark (Newbury, VT) contributed with a 21 point night.

Rivier will return to action on Monday night when they travel to Mount Ida College for a 7pm tip-off. Norwich is slated to host Suffolk University on Monday night – a 5:30pm start time.
