Softball Sweeps Fisher

GAME ONE:

NASHUA, NH: Rivier softball won against Fisher College this evening in non-conference play at Raider Diamond.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 4/11/23

- Score: Rivier 10, Fisher 2

- Records: Rivier (7-16, 2-4 GNAC), Fisher (2-21)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Fisher quickly put up a run in the first inning generated by a double to left center from Kalia Zellmer. Rivier answered back by scoring five runs in the bottom of the first. Olivia Couto (Fairhaven, MA) and Kayla Miles (Londonderry, NH) each earned a double and Sydney Greeno (Shirley, MA) contributed with a single.

- No runs were scored in the second inning.

- In the third inning, Falcons' Madison Kelley singled to center field sending Naomi Mares home. Rivier earned that run back from Avry Nelson's (Methuen, MA) hit which gave Couto enough time to cross the plate.

- In the fourth inning, Riv's Miles singled down the left field line gaining two RBIs. Miles then scored on a wild pitch putting the Raiders up 9-2.

- Raiders' Haley Rapaglia (Methuen, MA) reached home plate on a wild pitch in the fifth inning, putting the mercy rule into effect.

- Greeno of Rivier pitched the full five innings, striking out four batters and taking the win. Kalia Zellmer of Fisher was tagged with the loss.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Couto was 3-for-3, with 2 RBIs, 3 runs, and a stolen base

- Miles was 2-for-2, with 3 RBIs and 2 runs

- Greeno was 2-for-2, with 1 RBI

GAME TWO:

NASHUA, NH: Rivier softball won against Fisher College in non-conference action at Raider Diamond.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 4/11/23

- Score: Rivier 19, Fisher 3

- Records: Rivier (8-16, 2-4 GNAC), Fisher (2-22)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Falcons scored three runs in the first inning but were unable to score again. The Raiders matched Fisher's three runs in the first inning. Rivier's runs were produced by Christina Panagiotopoulos (Lowell, MA) with a single up the middle, Alyssa Gerardi (Manchester, NH) with a double to left, and a single from Caeli Reed (Norwood, MA).  

- In the bottom of the second inning, Rivier scored six more runs. Haley Rapaglia (Methuen, MA), Panagiotopoulos, and Reed each hit a single.

- The Raiders managed to put up nine runs in the bottom of the third. Singles were earned by Rapaglia, Panagiotopoulos, Kyleigh Guerette (Merrimack, NH), and Sarah Fraizer (Londonderry, NH) with two. Christina Louh (Pelham, NH) launched a double to right field and collected an RBI.

- In the bottom of the fourth, Reed hit a single to left field obtaining the final RBI of the game.

- The Falcons were unable to score in the top of the fifth inning, which ended the game with the mercy rule.

- Rapaglia received her first win of the season, striking out seven batters for Rivier. Madison Kelley was handed the loss for Fisher this evening.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Panagiotopoulos was 3-for-4, with 4 RBIs, 4 runs, and a stolen base

- Reed was 3-for-3, with 4 RBIs and 1 run

- Frazier was 3-for-4, with 2 RBIs and 3 runs

UP NEXT:

- Rivier softball will face New England College Thursday at 5:00PM and 7:00PM at Raider Diamond in non-conference play.
