The Thunder and Cobbers Defeat Softball

WINTER HAVEN, FL: Rivier softball lost to Wheaton College (Ill) this afternoon at the Spring Games in Florida.   

THE BASICS:

- Date: 3/7/23

- Score: Wheaton (Ill) 12, Rivier 0

- Records: Rivier (0-5, 0-0 GNAC), Wheaton (Ill) (1-4)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Alese Antonello of the Thunder kept the Raiders to two hits, which were earned by Courtney Marioles (Hudson, NH) and Josie Maggiore (North Hampton, NH).

- Wheaton scored fast and quickly, only allowing five innings of play. The Thunder strung together three hits and a sacrifice bunt in the first inning, generating four runs. In the third inning seven runs were put up by Wheaton from four hits. The final run was gained in the fourth inning with a base hit from Izibelle Vavra.

- Rivier softball will face Concordia College today at 4:30 PM in Winter Haven, FL.

GAME TWO:

WINTER HAVEN, FL: Rivier softball lost to Concordia College (Moorhead) today at the Spring Games in Florida.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 3/7/23

- Score: Concordia College (Moorhead) 9, Rivier 2

- Records: Rivier (0-6, 0-0 GNAC), Concordia (3-9)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Ending the first inning the Raiders and Cobbers were tied 1-1. Concordia continued to rake in the runs adding three in the second inning, one in the sixth, and four in the seventh. Rivier was unable to score again. 

- Kayla Miles (Lodonderry, NH) and Haley Rapaglia (Methuen, MA) each earned an RBI for Riv.

- Karissa Finnigan of the Cobbers struck out five Raiders and collected the win.

UP NEXT:

- Rivier softball will face Elizabethtown College Thursday at 9:00 AM at Auburndale Sports Complex.
