Men's Soccer clipped by Johnson and Wales, 3-0

(Providence, R.I.) The Rivier University Men's Soccer team finished the 2014 Great Northeast Athletic Conference portion of their schedule this afternoon with a 3-0 loss at Johnson and Wales University played at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletics Complex.

Johnson & Wales struck early when Durski fed a pass to Corridon who blasted in a shot from 15 yards out just 3:17 into the contest for the 1-0 lead. The Wildcats extended their lead in the 19th minute when Durski picked up a failed clearing attempt from Rivier and put in a shot from just outside the box to make the score 2-0. JWU took the two goal lead heading into halftime with a 10-1 advantage in shots and 3-0 in corner kicks for the stanza.

Corridon capped off the scoring for the day when he tallied his second goal of the game after a pass from Metz at the 81:53 mark. The Wildcats cruised to the 3-0 victory, outshooting Rivier by a 22-4 advantage with an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks for the contest.

Dzierzawski made two saves for his ninth shutout of the season and fourth in a row to pick up the win in goal for Johnson & Wales. The shutout streak now stands at 383:01 for the Wildcats. Sophomore Gary Archambault (Auburn, N.H.) tallied 10 stops in the loss for the Raiders.

Rivier drops to 1-13-1, 1-7-1 in the GNAC while Johnson & Wales sits at 12-4-1, 8-1 in league play. The Raiders will wrap up the 2014 season on Tuesday as they travel to Emerson College in Boston, Mass. for a 6pm non-conference contest.
