Men's Soccer allows a early goal in 1-0 loss to Saint Joseph's

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Soccer team saw yet another one goal decision go against them this afternoon as the visiting Saint Joseph's College Monks were able to earn a Great Northeast Athletic Conference win in front of about 75 people at Raider Field. The loss sends the Raiders' overall record to 1-11-0 (1-5-0 GNAC) while the Monks improve to 4-12-0 (2-4-0 GNAC).

Saint Joseph's freshman Austin Bell (Gorham, Maine) was able to riffle off a shot past Rivier sophomore goalkeeper Gary Archambault (Auburn, N.H.) just 1:23 into the match. Bell was a recipient of a perfectly placed thru ball from sophomore Jack Murray (Hingham, Mass.).

The Raiders would have chances inside the Monks 18' throughout the course of the contest but were unable to capitalize. Saint Joseph's held the advantage in shots as they outshot Rivier 13-8.

Archambault was able to stop the final four shots he faced after allowing the early tally. SJC junior goalkeeper Scott Benner (Post Falls, Idaho) earned the shutout as he recorded five saves.

The Raiders will have time to rest as they will return to the pitch on Saturday night for Senior Night against Norwich University. Game time is set to begin at 6pm.
