Field Hockey Breezes Past Elms, 6-0

NASHUA, N.H. – Rivier field hockey cruised to its fifth-straight Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest, downing Elms by a final score of 6-0 on Wednesday night at Merrill Field. With the victory, the Raiders evened out their record at 7-7, while moving to 7-3 in GNAC competitions.

Rivier scored just 34 seconds into the contest as Streeter blew past Blazers' defenders and sent a low shot into the net to make it 1-0 in favor of the hosts. Madison Bovill would add an unassisted goal of her own under two minutes later as she put the ball through a defender's legs and fired a shot past another defender and the keeper to double the Raiders' lead. The score would remain the same until the halftime break as Rivier outshot the visitors 12-0 in the opening 30 minutes.

Late in the third quarter, Sydney Spenard released a shot from the top of the circle, which Chloe Sicard would tip up. Hailey Morse then redirected the ball in mid-air into the cage to increase the Raiders' lead to three goals. With the fourth quarter underway, Spenard picked up a loose ball in stride and put a shot toward the goal which Streeter tucked in for herself. Morse would add her second tally of the day 35 seconds later on an unassisted attempt before Kayla Miles would tip in a Spenard shot for the sixth and final goal of the evening.

Rivier keeper Kylie Coupal was credited with the win as she occupied the crease for the opening 15 minutes before being subbed off for Lily Gifford.

The Raiders outshot the Blazers 38-0, with 16 shots landing on target for Rivier. The hosts also accumulated 14 penalty corners in the victory.

The four members of the squad's senior class will be honored in the final regular season home game on Saturday, Oct. 21 as Rivier plays host to Saint Joseph's (Me.) at 3:00 p.m. at Merrill Field.
