Field Hockey Falls to Framingham St.

NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier field hockey team played its first game on the turf at Merrill Field on Tuesday afternoon, but were shut out in front of the home crowd by Framingham St. The Raiders fell to 0-3 on the young season, while the Rams advanced to 1-3.

The Rams collected three green cards this evening but did not disturb their pace of play.

In the second quarter, Brandi Core of Framingham St. broke open the scoring when she reached the back of the net with an assist credited to Ashley Malmquist.

The Raiders battled to keep possession and were able to get 12 shots off. Rivier trailed Framingham's 12 corners with 10, unable to capitalize from the penalties.

In net for Riv, Kylie Coupal made five saves, getting her third start of the season.

The Raiders are back at home on Merrill Field in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 11:00 a.m.
