Garza's goal lifts Raiders past Regis College, 1-0

(Nashua, NH) Freshman Brittani Garza (Alexandria, VA) scored the lone goal of the game inside the 47 minute mark as the Rivier University Field Hockey team earned their fourth win of the season with a 1-0 victory over visiting Regis College on Thursday evening.

Garza was able to dribble the inside the circle and took a shot that deflected off a Pride defender and over the left shoulder of the Regis goaltender. After a quick discussion by the officials, the shot was deemed legal and the goal stood.

Junior goaltender Makenzie Flagg (Shirley, MA) earned the win as she stopped all seven shot she faced – including a breakaway opportunity with less than seven minutes to play in the game. Regis' Raegan Heck allowed the only shot she faced on net in. The Raiders were outshot on the night by a 10-2 margin.

Next up for Rivier will be a North Atlantic Conference contest at Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday afternoon. Regis will be back in action when they travel to Becker College for a NECC game on Saturday as well.
