Hauer's late goal lifts Raiders to victory over Daniel Webster

(Nashua, NH) Freshman Nicole Hauer scored her first collegiate goal with 4:56 remaining as the Rivier University Field Hockey team edged cross-town foe Daniel Webster College this morning at Raider Field. With the win, Rivier improves to 1-0 while Daniel Webster falls to 0-1.

The North Attleboro, MA native received a pass from classmate Brittany Garza (Alexandria, VA), who deflected a shot from freshman Amanda Clement (Allenstown, PA), and buried it through the pads of the Eagle goalkeeper.

Junior goaltender Makenzie Flagg (Shirley, MA) stopped all 10 shots she faced in net to earn the shutout victory. Daniel Webster's Danielle Melanson (Derry, NH) recorded 15 saves in the tough loss.

Rivier will return to the field on September 10 when they travel to Anna Maria College for a 4:30pm Non-Conference matchup. Daniel Webster will be back in action on September 12 at Smith College.
