Men's Volleyball: Raiders fall to Lasell on Senior Night

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Volleyball team closed out their 2017 home schedule this evening with a 3-1 setback to #11 Lasell College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. Prior to the start of the game, the Raiders honored their three seniors who have combined for an 87-40 overall record since wearing the navy and white. Rivier is now 17-12 overall on the season and fall to 8-4 in the GNAC while the Lasers improve to 26-5, 11-1 GNAC.

The Raiders dropped the four set match by scores of 12-25, 25-21, 16-25 and 23-25.

Seniors Matt LaSance (Madison, Conn.), Ian Wolski (Westfield, Mass.) and Tyler Blank (Rochester, N.Y.) were a part of the pre-game festivities with their parents and loved ones as this is their final regular season home game inside the Muldoon Gymnasium.

The Rivier offense was led by Wolski and junior Grant Andler (Chicago, Ill.) who each totaled eight kills while junior Matt Heckler (Simi Valley, Calif.) added seven kills. Blank dished out 30 assists and junior libero Garrett Bucklin (Jamestown, R.I.) collected 15 digs along the back line. Heckler and freshman John Equitani (Coventry, R.I.) were solid along the net as they both recorded two block solos in the loss.

Senior Tristian Davis (Rochester, N.Y.) was the star of the night for the Lasers as he had the game high of 15 kills. Senior Jeffery Vautrin (Chicopee, Mass.) knocked down eight winners and classmate Patrick McDonald (Floral Park, N.Y.) had six kills to go along with his eleven digs. Sophomore Jordan Aprea (Newington, Conn.) was the dig leader with 18 while fellow sophomore Andy Henriquez (Lawrence, Mass.) totaled 36 assists. Freshman Jaci Soto (Lawrence, Mass.) also helped out on the defensive side with four total blocks.

Rivier will close out the 2017 regular season this Saturday afternoon with a conference tri-match at Emerson College with Albertus Magnus College. Lasell will also be in GNAC Tri-Match action on Saturday as they travel to Johnson & Wales University with Emmanuel College.
