Men's Volleyball: #10 Raiders earn four set win over Arcadia

(Marcy, N.Y.) The tenth-ranked Rivier University Men's Volleyball team opened the 2017 SUNY Polytechnic Invitational with a four set win over Arcadia University on Friday evening. The Raiders, winners of four straight, took the match by scores of 25-23, 32-30, 21-25 and 25-17 to improve to 7-5 overall on the year. Arcadia falls to 7-8 overall with the loss.

The offense was electric for the Raiders all night as three student-athletes reached double-figures as junior Matt Heckler (Simi Valley, Calif.) recorded a team-high 12 kills and a .318 hitting percentage. Classmate Grant Andler (Chicago, Ill.) also added twelve kills of his own and senior Ian Wolski (Westfield, Mass.) chipped in with 10 winners and a .304 hitting percentage. Senior setter Matt LaSance (Madison, Conn.) guided the offense to a .284 hitting percentage with 49 assists and sophomore Khaynen Yocca (Pittsburgh, Pa.) added nine kills and a .600 hitting percentage in the win. Junior libero Garrett Bucklin (Jamestown, R.I.) had yet another outstanding evening as he controlled the back line with thirteen digs, his sixth game of the season with 10+ digs.

Arcadia swung at a .291 clip buoyed by Bryce Galloway's fourteen-kill, .522 hitting percentage, nine dig night. Jason Manley added the game-high of sixteen kills and Edwin Waters Jr. rounded out the double-digit efforts with 10 kills. Sean Cohen matched LaSance with 49 helpers and Zayne George added eight digs for Arcadia.

Rivier will return to the court tomorrow as they battle Elmira and the hosts, SUNY Polytechnic at the Wildcat Field House before making their way back to Nashua.
