Men's Volleyball: Bucklin, Roth named to GNAC Players of the Week

(Winthrop, Mass.) The Great Northeast Athletic Conference reviled their first Men's Volleyball weekly awards this afternoon and a pair of Raiders have been selected. Junior Garrett Bucklin (Jamestown, R.I.) was tabbed as the GNAC Corvias Defensive Player of the Week and freshman Cam Roth (Coventry, R.I.) was selected as the GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week.

Bucklin anchored Rivier's defense with 3.50 digs per set in a 1-1 week for the Raiders. The third year libero registered 10 and 11 digs, respectively, in the team's only two games on the week against #1 Springfield College and Endicott College.

Roth kicked off his Raider career with a 10-kill, nine-dig performance in a 3-0 win over Endicott. The first-year student-athlete averaged 2.75 kills per set while hitting for a .348 hitting percentage on offense while averaging 2.25 digs per set on defense.

Rivier, who is pre-season ranked #15 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), will be on the road in their only contests this upcoming week as they compete in the Kean University Invitational. The Raiders will open against #10 Kean on Friday night before squaring off against #8 Vassar and Hunter on Saturday.
