Men's Volleyball: Bucklin named GNAC Defensive Player of the Week

(Winthrop, Mass.) The Great Northeast Athletic Conference announced their Men's Volleyball Weekly Honors presented by Corvias and for the second consecutive week, Rivier University junior Garrett Bucklin (Jamestown, R.I.) has been selected as the GNAC's Defensive Player of the Week. 

Bucklin registered 34 digs in eleven sets played over the three game week in which the Raiders competed at the Kean University Invitational. The third year libero registered eight digs and an assist in the team's three set win over #10 Kean University on Friday night before totaling 26 digs in the two losses on Saturday to Hunter College and #9 Vassar College. In the five loss to #9 Vassar, Bucklin led the defensive effort along the back line with a career high of 17 digs while playing in all five sets. He averaged 3.09 digs per set on the weekend. 

Rivier, who was ranked #14 by the American Volleyball Coaches Association in last week's national poll, will not return to action until they travel to Rochester, New York for the Golden Flyer Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
