Raiders Take Two

Nashua, NH - #8 Rivier College (6-0 GNAC;16-5 overall) swept both Emerson College and Mount Ida College to remain undefeated in conference play.

In the first match of the evening the Raiders knocked down Emerson College 25-11, 25-19, 28-26 behind NECVA Rookie of the Week Aaron Almario's (Alhambra, CA) 9 kills and 2 blocks. Fellow rookie's Steven Coulson (Huntington Beach, CA) and Terry Matatall (Danville, NH) recorded 6 digs and 4 blocks respectively while first year player Cameron Walker (Costa Mesa, CA) dished out a match high 18 assists. Senior Steve Wood (Spencerport, NY) scooped up a match high 9 digs to lead the Raiders defense.

Freshman Sam Kazlas (Allentown, PA) thumped a team high 13 kills on 18 attempts with just 1 error for a .667 hitting percentage to lead the Raiders over Mount Ida College in the second match of the night. Fellow first year player Daniel Elitharp (Eastport, NY) filled up the stat sheet with 5 kills, 4 digs, 2 service aces, and 1 block in the victory. Cameron Walker tallied a match high in assists and blocks recording 31 and 4 respectively while also chipping in on defense with 5 digs. Rookie Alex Wezelis (Churchville, NY) was aggressive in the back row lipping 8 Mustang attacks and passing 15 for 16 on receive while Steven Coulson added some pop once again to the offense with 7 kills.
