Rivier Remains Undefeated At Raider Invitational

Nashua NH - #5 Rivier College (3-0 Overall; 0-0 GNAC) defeated two more opponents on Day 2 of the Raider Invitational to finish the tournament with a spotless 3-0 record. Rivier started the day off with a 3-0 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology. Middle hitters Taylor Lindner and Alex Xenidis led the Raiders with a combined 9 kills on offense and 4 blocks on defense. First year players Terry Matatall and Steve Coulson totaled 4 blocks while classmate Sam Kazlas put down 2 kills on just 3 attempts. Freshman setter Cameron Walker dished out 7 assists in 1 set and first year players Alex Wezelis and Daniel Elitharp played well in the back row.

Rivier finished the day with a 3-1 win over 13th ranked Endicott College. Senior Jared Andreozzi had a solid showing with a match high 13 kills and 4 service aces while Taylor Lindner and Andrew Paine combined for 12 kills and 6 blocks. Sophomore Steve Visentin distributed a match high 29 assists and was solid on the block with 5 put backs. Alex Xenidis played well at the net with 4 kills and 5 blocks and senior John Furka chipped in with 5 kills. The back row trio of Chris Convertito, Drew Corwin, and Steve Wood combined for 8 digs and steady passing.

Rivier travels to Johnson & Wales University on Tuesday 1/18 for their first GNAC match of the season. Game time in Providence Rhode Island will be 7:00pm.
