Raiders Slow Down Saints

Nashua, NH - #11 Rivier College (3-0 GNAC; 10-3 overall) defeated #12 Emmanuel College 3-1 to remain undefeated in GNAC play. Rivier carried the play for the first two sets with scores of 25-20, 25-20 due to a strong defense and a well balanced offense but stumbled in set three with a 13-7 lead to eventually lose the third stanza 23-25. The Raiders regrouped in the fourth set to finish the match by the score of 25-19. Senior outside hitter Jared Andreozzi registered a double-double with 16 kills and 10 digs while also putting back a team high 5 blocks. Sophomore setter Steve Visentin directed a well balanced offense placing 3 hitters in double figures while dishing out a total of 50 assists. Middle hitters Alex Xenidis and Taylor Lindner were dominant in the middle. Xenidis hit .500 on the match with 14 kills on 24 attacks with just 2 errors while Lindner scorched in 13 kills on 23 attempts with 5 errors for a .348 hitting percentage. The duo combined for 7 Raider blocks.

Junior Libero Chris Convertito played his best match to date with a flawless 20/20 on receive and a team high 14 digs. The trio of Drew Corwin, Andrew Paine, and Steve Wood once again were rock solid passing nails while serving tough and playing great defense. Senior John Furka and freshman Sam Kazlas were productive at the pins with a combined 13 kills and 4 blocks.

Rivier will travel to Harvard University on Wednesday 2/9 for their next match. Game time against the Division 1 Crimson will be 7:00pm.
