NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier University Women' Soccer team opened up their Great Northeast Athletic COnfernece portion of the schedule this evening with a 0-0 draw to visiting Anna Maria College under the lights at Joanne Merrill Field. The Raiders are now 2-1-2 overall on the season with a 0-0-1 mark against conference foes while the AMCATS record their first tie of the year and are now 3-2-1 overall, 0-1-1 in the GNAC.

Both teams competed equally in the first half. The AMCATS had the only scoring chance of the opening 45 during the 19th minute. A corner kick from freshman Meghan Morrone (Westerly, R.I.) was able to bounce of a defender and land on the foot of sophomore Sindey Eskildsen (Murrieta, Calif.). Eskildsen's shot was able to trickle past the goalkeeper however Rivier junior back Ashley Glynn (Salem, N.H.) was along the goal line and was able to record the defensive save by quickly clearing the ball away.

As the game drew into the second overtime, the Raiders had an opportunity to net the golden goal. It was the 102nd minute when Rivier senior Keara Sheehan (Chelmsford, Mass.) was able to collect a loose ball inside the box and rifle a shot on net. Anna Maria sophomore keeper Rachel Matloff (Grafton, Mass.) made a quick dive to her left to make the point blank save and keep the game scoreless.

Rivier senior keeper Kasey Smith (Hopkinton, N.H.) made four saves on the evening for her second scoreless sheet of the season. Matloff finished with five saves for the AMCATS.

Next up for Rivier will be a 2:30pm kickoff on Saturday afternoon at Joanne Merrill Field against the University of Saint Joseph Blue Jays. Anna Maria, meanwhile, will remain on the road as they are scheduled to travel to Pine Manor College for a 1pm kickoff on Saturday afternoon.
