
Women's Soccer: Raiders placed 12th in GNAC Preseason Coaches Poll
WINTHROP, Mass. - The Rivier University Women's Soccer team has been selected to finish twelfth in the league according to the 2019 GNAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Saint Joseph's College of Maine received six of the possible 13 first-place votes for 159 points to lead the way in the 2019 GNAC Preseason poll, as voted upon by the conference's thirteen head coaches.
Lasell University finished second in the poll with three first-place votes and 150 points, followed closely by Johnson & Wales University (R.I.) with three first-place nods and 149 points. Emmanuel College slotted fourth with the remaining first-place tally and 135 points while the Raiders of Rivier University gathered 32 points for 12th.
Brooke Arment will enter her second season along the sidelines as the team kicks off the 2019 campaign. She will be returning a solid group of veterans that led the program to a 4-12 record in 2108, including seniors Brittany Fletcher (4 goals, 2 assists), Keara Sheehan (3 goals, 1 assist) and senior goalkeeper Kasey Smith (2.35 GAA, 140 saves).
The 2019 season will get underway on Saturday, August 31 as the Raiders travel to Northern Vermont University - Lyndon for a 4:30 p.m. non-conference contest. The first home game inside the newly constructed Joanne Merrill Field will be a few days later on Thursday, September 5th against Pine Manor College. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
