NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier University Women's Soccer team dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest this evening to visiting Lasell University, 2-0 under the lights at Joanne Merrill Field. The loss moves the Raiders to 2-13-2 overall and 0-10-1 in the conference while the Lasers jump to 7-10-0 overall and 7-4-0 against the GNAC.

Prior to the start of the contest, the Raiders honoroed their five seniors - Kasey Smith (Hopkinton, N.H.), Brittany Fletcher (Tewksbury, Mass.), Stephanie Case (Nashua, N.H.), Kassiana Gagnon (Windham, N.H.) and Keara Sheehan (Chelmsford, Mass.) - with a small ceremony including their friends and families.

Lasell took the advantage in the first half when sophomore Serena Speight (Biddeford, Maine) sent a beautiful pass through to freshman Alex Lorenzo (Pawtucket, R.I.) inside the 6-yard box. Lorenzo took control and buried her shot into the back of the net to give the Lasers the lead in the 27th minute.

Speight then added an insurance goal for Lasell in the 70th minute as she was the beneficiary of a perfect pass from junior Korynne Provenzano (Stratham, N.H.) and recorded her 6th goal of the season.

Smith recorded three saves on five chances for the Raiders while Lasell sophomore keeper Angela Sanzari (North Haven, Conn.) did not see a shot on net for her clean sheet victory.

Rivier will close out the 2019 season on Wednesday night as they travel to East Boston, Mass. for a conference battle with Suffolk University. Lasell will host Saint Joseph's College (Me.) on Wednesday in a 3pm kickoff.
