Lasell outscores Rivier, 4-2 in GNAC Women's Soccer Action

Nashua, NH - Lasell College sophomore forward Jamie Harris recorded three goals as the Lasers top Rivier College, 4-2 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action tonight at Raider Field.

Rivier (1-4 overall, 0-2 GNAC) got the scoring started early. Freshman Mary Donovan (Milford, NH) received a beautiful pass from sophomore Hillary Hee (Colchester, VT) inside the box and buried it to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead just 6 minutes into the game.

Lasell would come right back and answer with four straight goals. Harris scored her first at the 14 minute mark as she broke away from the pack and slipped one by Rivier goalkeeper Christine Surber (Langdon, NH)to even the score at one. Harris would add her second goal just 1:30 later as she took possession of a Raider turnover in the middle and put one near side to give the Lasers a lead they would not give up.

Harris would complete the hat trick early in the second half when she collected a rebound of the post, after a shot by LC junior Reegan Brackett, and found the open net. Jessica Tayolr (Sr., Standish, ME) would record the fourth and final goal for Lasell as she took a shot from about five yards out and found the back of the net.

The Raiders hard work and persistence paid off as they received a penalty shot after a Lasell foul inside the box. Sophomore Mariah Payne (Concord, NH) took the shot and placed inside the left post to cut the deficit in half.

Lasell (2-2 overall, 1-1 GNAC) got a solid effort from senior goalkeeper Elizabeth Stickley (Mashpee, MA). Stickley allowed just one goal as she stopped three of four shots in her 76 minutes of work. Freshman Amy DelloRusso (Plymouth, MA) played the final 14 minutes and stopped 1 of 2 shots she saw.

Surber made six saves for Rivier.

A scary moment came in the 60th minute of the game when Rivier senior Kristi Davis (Hampstead, NH) landed awkwardly on her back after being fouled. She was carried off the field by an ambulance. At the time of this article, no news has been reported on Davis.

The Raiders will look to rebound from this one on Saturday (9/17) afternoon when they travel to Emerson College and take on a Lion team that is currently 1-3 on the season. Lasell will host Norwich University on Saturday (9/17).
