Emmanuel upends Rivier in GNAC Women's Soccer action, 2-1

Nashua, NH - The Women's Soccer team fell to GNAC opponent Emmanuel College this afternoon in front of a packed audience at Raider Field.

The game was a bit of a chess match in the scoreless first half. Sophomore goalkeeper Christine Surber (Langdon, NH) made the save of the half as she stopped an Emmanuel breakaway late in the first stanza.

The Saints would record their first goal at the 56 minute mark. EC senior Logan Carr (Saratoga Springs, NY) sent a corner kick into the box where she found sophomore Donadrea Myette (Portsmouth, RI) who one-timed it past the diving Surber.

Emmanuel would add another goal just three minutes later when sophomore Darcey Sullivan (Dalton, MA) set up classmate Lindsay Garvey (Warwick, RI) to give the Saints a 2-0 lead.

Rivier did not quit. In the 74th minute, sophomore Lauren Tamposi (Hollis, NH) was able to break through the stringent Emmanuel defense and buried a shot to the far side to cut the deficit in half. The goal was Tamposi's 4th of the season and has now scored in the past three games.

Emmanuel goalkeeper Jessica D'Ottavio stopped 4 of the 5 shots she saw in the game while Surber was 10-for-12.

Rivier Women's Soccer will return to action on Wednesday night when the host Lasell College in a GNAC Conference game. Game time is set for 7pm. Emmanuel will travel up to Northfield, VT to take on Norwich University in a GNAC game on Wednesday (9/14).
