NEW HAVEN, Conn. – In her return to action, junior goaltender Rachel Hinkley made 43 saves on 44 shots to help Rivier women's hockey secure a tie in non-league play against Albertus Magnus at the Ralph Walker Ice Rink on Saturday night.
The Raiders now hold a record of 4-3-3 (0-1-2 ECHA) while the Falcons' ledger sits at 1-9-2 overall.
Both goals in the contest were scored in the first period, as Albertus' Maddy Gootjes scored before Rebecca McKelvey would answer just over four minutes later to knot the score at 1-1.
Neither team was able to score over the remaining 43:18 of regulation, sending the game to overtime. Rivier outshot Albertus Magnus 5-4 while the Falcons killed off a penalty in the final five minutes to assure the tie.
Rivier was 0-for-5 on the powerplay while the Raiders killed off all three Falcons powerplay opportunities.
The Raiders will head north to Vermont to compete in the Castleton Invitational starting Friday, Dec. 8 in a semifinal against the host institution, set to begin at 4:00 p.m. at Spartan Arena.
