Grumblatt Selected as GNAC Player of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – After a 3-0 week against non-conference opponents including an undefeated weekend at the Courtyard by Marriot Classic, Rivier women's basketball senior Lyric Grumblatt was selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.

Grumblatt started the week with a 19-point, 13-rebound double-double in a 64-49 victory over Framingham St. on Tuesday, Dec. 3 in which she tacked on three assists.

On Saturday, Dec. 6, she helped Rivier down Salve Regina on day one of tournament action hosted by Wesleyan, notching 20 points, 13 rebounds, and two blocks.

Sunday's 70-63 victory over Utica on the tournament's final day proved to be her best performance of the week. Grumblatt scored 31 points on 11-of-19 (57.9%) shooting from the floor, including 3-of-6 from deep while going 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. She also registered eight boards, six steals, and three assists. Grumblatt and classmate Hannah Muchemore were both named to the All-Tournament team for their performances.

Grumblatt is now atop the GNAC in points (242) and points per game (26.9), which slates her top-three in the NCAA Division III ranks.

Grumblatt and her Rivier teammates will have to wait until Thursday, Jan. 2 to extend the squad's winning streak to five games when they kick off action in the Pearson Memorial Tournament, hosted by Babson. The Raiders will begin tournament action with a matchup against WPI at 3:00 p.m. from Staake Gymnasium.
