Babson Tops Women’s Basketball, 84-66

BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Rivier women's basketball team fell to Babson College in the final game of the Pearson Memorial Tournament, with the Beavers securing an 84-66 victory on Friday evening at Staake Gymnasium.

The Raiders dropped to 4-7 overall as they concluded their non-conference schedule, while the Beavers improved to 7-5 on the season.

Babson jumped out to a quick 18-4 lead in the first quarter, finishing the period with a 12-point advantage. Despite efforts to close the gap, Rivier trailed 41-23 at halftime.

The Raiders showed resilience in the third quarter, outscoring the Beavers 24-22, but the fourth quarter saw Babson maintain control, sealing the 18-point win.

Graduate student Lyric Grumblatt made history for the Raiders, scoring 36 points on 12-of-26 shooting (46.2%), including 5-of-10 from beyond the arc, setting a new tournament record for points in a single game. Over the tournament, Grumblatt accumulated 68 points, breaking the tournament's total scoring record. She also led the team in rebounds, securing seven. Fellow graduate student Hannah Muchemore added support with 10 points, three rebounds, and three steals.

The Raiders are set to return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 7 in their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup of the season. The game tips off at 4:00 p.m. at the Muldoon Center.
