Falcons soar past Raiders, 7-0

(Nashua, NH) Fitchburg State scored seven times as they went on to defeat Rivier College, 7-0 in non-conference soccer action tonight.

The Falcons (3-9-1, 1-3 MASCAC) got off to a fast start as senior Lionso Ventura (Westminster, MA) scored an unassisted goal at 14:18. FSU would add another goal a little over three minutes later when sophomore Chris Kleindl (Tokyo, Japan) netted one from inside the box on a brilliant pass from Ventura. Sophomore Kenneth Kelly (Marston Mills, MA) would add the third and final goal of the first half at 21:46.

The Falcons made it 4-0 just 51 seconds into the second half as sophomore Carmen Bordonaro (Saugus, MA) found the back of the net on an unassisted goal. Throughout the final 44 minutes, Fitchburg State would add goals from junior Jason Pereira (Wilmington, MA), senior Kevin Mascary (North Easton, MA) and freshman Calvin La Rose (Rutland, MA).

Rivier goalkeeper Bryar King (Berlin, NH) saw a barrage of shots and was able to stop 17 of the 24. On the other side, FSU starting keeper Aidan Hanratty (East Bridgewater, MA) stopped the only shot he saw.

The Raiders (0-11, 0-7 GNAC) will host GNAC newcomer Anna Maria College in a 12pm contest on Saturday afternoon (10/15). Fitchburg State will return to action on Saturday as well as they travel to Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
