Tyler, Rettenmeier score goals in their final game

(Fitchburg, MA) Senior captains Lindsay Rettenmeier (Ashford, CT) and Kristen Tyler (Thornton, NH) each scored a goal in the final game of their four year careers at Fitchburg State this evening. The Falcons edged the Raiders, 5-2 in front of 100 people at Elliot Field.

Rettenmeier's goal, her third of the season, came at the 30 minute mark in the first half. It was an unassisted goal which gave Rivier a 3-1 deficit at halftime. The goal was also Rettenmeier's 12th of her career and over the four seasons – 62 games played.

With time winding down on the season, Tyler took a penalty stroke and netted her 8th goal of the year, which ties the single season Raider Field Hockey record with fellow senior Ashley Ruocco (East Kingston, NH). Tyler and Ruocco have also set the career record in games played (63) while Ruocco has the career goals record with 27.

Sophomore Makenzie Flagg (Shirley, MA) stopped 15 of 20 shots on the night. She now has collected 201 saves on the season and 392 in her short two year career.

Rivier finishes the 2012 campaign with a 2-17 record and an 0-9 mark in North Atlantic Conference competition.
