(Nashua, NH) Freshman Kate Adinolfo (Manchester, NH) scored her 4th goal of the season but it was Castleton State College who walked away on top as they bested the Raiders, 10-1 in North Atlantic Conference Field Hockey action this afternoon at Raider Field.
The Spartans (8-2 overall, 4-0 NAC) got off to a fast start as Kristy Pinkham scored an unassisted goal just 14 minutes into the game. Castleton State would receive goals from 7 other student-athletes over the final 56 minutes of play.
Adinolfo took a pass from senior Kristen Tyler (Thornton, NH) and was able to sneak it past the Spartan goalie to break the shutout. Senior Lindsay Rettenmeier (Ashford, CT) was also credited with an assist on the play.
Sophomore Makenzie Flagg (Shirley, MA) had another 20+ save game, her third in the last five games, as she made 24 saves on 32 shots. Freshman Colleen Albert (Lincoln, ME) made 11 saves on 13 shots as she saw 25 minutes of action in between the pipes. Jessica Galatioto earned the win in net for the Spartans as she stopped 2 of the 3 shots she faced in her 47 minutes of action. Heather Ploof played the final 23 minutes and recorded 3 saves.
Rivier (2-11 overall, 0-7 NAC) will be back on the field tomorrow afternoon as they host Mahattanville College in a non-conference matchup beginning at 1:30pm. Castleton State will host Simmons College in a NAC contest on Columbus Day (Monday, October 8) with a 1pm start time.
