(Nashua, NH) The Rivier University Field Hockey team fell to the visiting Valiants of Manhattanville College this afternoon, 9-2 up on the hill at Raider Field.
Rivier received second half goals from sophomore Presleigh Skelley (Wolfeboro, NH) and freshman Kate Adinolfo (Manchester, NH) to avoid the shutout. Sophomore goaltender Makenzie Flagg (Shirley, MA) stopped 18 of 26 shots she faced in net.
Manhattanville netted four goals in the first 35 minutes and Amanda DeChent recorded 4 points on three of the goals. She would finish with 6 total points as she assisted on two second half goals. Courtney Ponte made three saves for the Valiants as they improved to 9-4 on the season.
Rivier (2-12 overall, 0-7 NAC) will return to action on Thursday night as they host Gordon College in a non-conference matchup. It will be Senior Night as the team plans to honor the three senior captains – Kristen Tyler, Lindsay Rettenmeier and Ashley Ruocco – prior to the game. Game time is set for 7pm.
