
Baseball Drops GNAC Opener at Saint Joseph (Conn.)
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Rivier baseball team dropped an 11-1 decision to Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Sunday afternoon at the USJ Baseball Field in its Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opener.
The Raiders fell to 5-7 (0-1 GNAC) while the Blue Jays improved to 9-7 (1-0 GNAC) with the result.
USJ got out to a 2-0 lead in the first before adding three additional runs in the second and fourth innings to take a 5-0 advantage.
Rivier got on the board in the top of the sixth as senior Luis Tejada recorded an RBI single to center, scoring classmate Dylan Aliberti.
The hosts added six runs over the next two innings to earn a walk-off by way of the run rule to close out the contest.
The Raiders will continue GNAC play on Tuesday, April 25 against Anna Maria. First pitch at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, Mass. is slated for 3:00 p.m.
