Raiders fall in final game in Florida, 8-1 to Gallaudet

Lakeland, FL - After a rough first inning, freshman Bryar King (Berlin, NH) settled down but the damage was done as Gallaudet topped Rivier, 8-1.

King pitched well as he tossed a complete game (8 innings) allowing the Bison to plate 8 runs, five earned, on 12 hits while striking out 4. King allowed Gallaudet to score five runs in the bottom of the first as the Raider defense committed 2 errors in the frame.

At the plate, 8 different Raiders recorded hits. Sophomore JJ Montello (Nashua, NH) failed to record a hit but tallied the only RBI with a perfectly exectued suicide squeeze bunt in the eight that scored freshman Lucas Palma (Bristol, CT).

The game was a reunion of sorts as both coaching staffs knew each other real well. The Head Coach for Gallaudet, Curtis Pride and the pitching coach Andre Rabouin were both members of the Nashua Pride and the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs - the two independent league franchises that Rivier Head Coach Anthony Perry worked/played for.

Rivier (1-7 overall) will return to New England and prepare to take on Massachusetts Maritime on St. Patrick's Day double-header.
