Becker downs Rivier in Non-Conference Baseball action

Leicester, Mass. – The Rivier College Baseball team dropped another on Wednesday afternoon as they fell 12-3 against Becker College at Rochdale Park.

Rivier got on the board in the first inning when they took advantage of sloppy defense by the Hawks. After Kyle Bowser (Newington, NH) singled through the left side, back-to-back errors by Becker infielders allowed Bowser to score. A fielder's choice by John DiBenedetto (Tampa, FL) gave the Raiders a 2-0 lead after just a half of an inning.

Trailing by three runs, Rivier pushed a run across the board in the top of the fourth on a RBI single by Michael Scanlon (Plantsville, CT), cutting the Hawks lead to 5-3.

Junior Aramis Velez (Lowell, MA), DiBenedetto and Scanlon all finished the game going 1-for-3 with a RBI. Bowser and sophomore JJ Montello (Nashua, NH) recorded the other hits for the Raiders.

Rivier starting pitcher Arthur Hoffman (Malden, MA) took the loss after pitching six innings, allowing five earned runs on 12 hits. Rivier (1-14) will travel to Gordon College tomorrow, March 29 at 3:00pm.
