Men’s Volleyball Splits GNAC Tri-Match, Wraps Up Regular-Season

BOSTON, Mass. – The Rivier men's volleyball team capped off the regular-season with a split in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match at Tansey Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

The Raiders swept Regis (Mass.) before falling to No. 3 Wentworth in straight sets to finish the campaign 17-13 (10-4 GNAC) to earn the third seed in the GNAC Tournament, ensuring a quarterfinal matchup against the sixth-seeded Emerson Lions on Tuesday night at the Muldoon Center at 7:00 p.m.

Rivier 3, Regis (Mass.) 0

Rivier won by set scores of 25-15, 25-17, 25-16 to secure the season sweep of the Pride.

The Raiders notched a .377 team hitting percentage thanks in large part to Chris Lezon's perfect game. Lezon notched nine kills at a 1.000 clip while tacking on two block assists.

Neil Rea recorded 31 assists while recording five kills on six errorless attempts to hit .833 in the triumph. Rea also had four aces and four digs.

Isaac Borges and Sokunbuth Ly each added seven kills apiece.

Seven digs from Peter White were the most of all players.

No. 3 Wentworth 3, Rivier 0

In a battle with the AVCA's third-ranked team, Rivier fell in three sets to the host Leopards. Despite the setback, the Raiders hit at a .246 percentage, with Neil Rea's 19 assists guiding the offense.

Matthew McCloskey had six kills on nine unblemished attacks to hit at a .667 clip. Isaac Borges recorded seven kills, hitting .417. Along with four kills, Chris Lezon had two solo blocks and three block assists in the loss.
