Endicott Bests Men’s Volleyball in Five Sets

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Rivier men's volleyball team lost a highly-contested five-set matchup at Endicott on Wednesday night at MacDonald Gymnasium.

The Raiders fell by set scores of 26-28, 25-17, 25-27, 25-18, 17-19 to fall to 1-2 on the season while the Gulls begin their campaign 1-0.

The match had 54 ties and 23 lead changes as three of the five sets used extra points.

Sokunbuth Ly carried the offensive workload, recording 14 kills at a .216 clip. The graduate student also added seven digs and four blocks. Chris Lezon notched a match-leading six blocks while hitting .375 with eight kills. Neil Rea passed out 27 assists while dropping five kills at a .400 clip, recorded six digs, had three aces, and helped out on three blocks.

Endicott's Gavin Emenaker dished out 45 assists while recording 10 digs on the night.

Rivier hit .237 as a team while limiting the Gulls to a .133 team percentage.

The Raiders will look to defend home court for the first time on Saturday, Jan. 27 as they welcome No. 6 ranked Springfield to the Muldoon Center for a 6:00 p.m. showdown.
