Men’s Volleyball Downs Elms in Four Sets on Senior Night

NASHUA, N.H. – On a Tuesday night celebrating the members of the class of 2024, the Rivier men's volleyball team downed Elms in four sets in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) clash at the Muldoon Center.

The Raiders took the match by set scores of 25-21, 27-29, 25-11, 25-22 to improve to 15-12 (8-2 GNAC). The loss knocked the Blazers down to 7-20 (2-10 GNAC).

After trailing 15-14 at a timeout, Rivier came out and put together a 10-6 swing to take the opening set. Isaac Borges had five kills at a .500 pace to help push the Raiders to a .414 team percentage and a 1-0 lead despite 18 tie scores and 10 lead changes.

In a highly contested second set with 11 ties and three lead swings, the guests grinded out the win in extra points. Back-to-back kills from Nicholas Uschmann sealed Rivier's fate in the second and tied the match up at one-all.

Riv hit at a .500 clip in the third as it cruised to a 25-11 win. Neil Rea had eight assists as the Raiders recorded 11 kills on 20 attempts while only committing a single error.

In the fourth, Rivier held on after taking a 12-11 lead midway through the frame. Sokunbuth Ly had six kills at a .625 pace in the final set.

Rea finished up with 43 assists, 10 digs, five kills, and three aces. Peter White matched Rea with 10 digs of his own while posting a .941 reception percentage. Chris Lezon finished with a team-best 12 kills while hitting .364. Borges finished with five aces and Racine Camara had four.

Rivier heads to downtown Boston on Thursday, April 4 at 6:00 p.m. for a GNAC matchup with Emerson at Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gym.
