Men’s Volleyball Sweeps Dean on Cancer Awareness Night

NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier men's volleyball team hit at a .413 team hitting percentage while limiting Dean to a -.020 clip in a straight sweep in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Thursday night at the Muldoon Center. The Raiders donned special Cancer Awareness shirts presented by the Rivier American Cancer Society on Campus Club, which is raising funds to help find a cure for the disease.

The Raiders won by set scores of 25-16, 25-21, 25-17 to improve to 7-4 (3-0 GNAC) while the Bulldogs dropped to 1-6 (0-3 GNAC).

Matthew McCloskey was dominant for the Raiders, notching 10 kills on 14 errorless attempts to hit .714 in the match. The sophomore also added three aces and two digs in the victory. Tyler Dickinson hit .636 as he collected nine kills. Both Sebastien Menchaca and Izaviah Hong recorded seven kills. Justin Barish had 40 assists while hitting .400 with two digs. Leading the team with five digs was Joseph Cruz.

Rivier will hit the road to face Springfield and St. Joseph's (L.I.) on Saturday evening in a tri-match hosted by the fourth-ranked Pride with matches beginning at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. at Blake Arena.
