McEvoy Tabbed GNAC Runner of the Year Following First-Place Finish at GNAC Championship

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Doctoral student Emma McEvoy produced a first-place finish as the Rivier women's cross country team competed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship at the Norwich Cross Country Course Saturday afternoon.

McEvoy crossed the finish line 3.5 seconds ahead of her competition to bring home the Raiders' first GNAC Individual Championship since 1998 after posting a time of 23:48.30, earning the title of GNAC Runner of the Year.

With the result, the Atlanta, Ga. native also sits atop the GNAC All-Conference First Team.

Several other Rivier runners saw improvements in today's race.

First-year Sophia Kasem was the second Raider to cross the finish line in 32nd place, setting a new personal best time of 28:10.9.

Senior Sophia Lunati crossed the line in 41st with a time of 28:46.3.

First-years Ayla Biscan and Chloe Pena both recorded personal-best times. Biscan recorded a time of 33:36.1 and finished in 67th. Pena came in 77th with a time of 39:20.2, six minutes faster than her previous best recorded time.

Senior Anne McIntosh crossed the line in 78th with a time of 39:20.3 to round out the field.

Rivier will travel to Hopkinton, N.H. on Saturday, Nov. 16 to participate in the Division III East Regionals, hosted by Suffolk, at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds.
