Women's Volleyball: Dunster's 18-kill effort leads Raiders past Lions 3-0

(Quincy, Mass.) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team ran their current winning streak to 10 games this evening as they swept Eastern Nazarene College in straight sets during a non-conference matchup at the Lahue PE Center. The Raiders are now 15-5 on the season while the Lions fall to 10-4.

Rivier used set scores of 25-20, 25-18 and 25-16 to take the match.

Junior Taylor Dunster (Sutton, Mass.) was the star of the night as she hammered down 18 kills, recorded a hitting percentage of .412 and scooped up 13 digs. Freshman Sydney Racevicius (Woodbury, Conn.) added eight kills and 10 digs on the evening and junior Jessica Whyte (Plymouth, Mass.) chipped in with seven kills and two total blocks in the win. Senior setter Hayley Macken (Clifton Park, N.Y.) dished out 36 assists and freshman Leah Giampietro (Coventry, R.I.) picked up 12 digs along the backline for the Raiders.

For Eastern Nazarene, Ruth Aguilar was the offensive threat with a team-high 8 kills and 8 assists. Samantha Caldwell totaled nine assists and Jessica Caldwell collected 11 digs in the loss.

Next up for Rivier will be a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest on Saturday morning as they host the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) in the opening game of a split tri-match at the Muldoon. The Raiders will also entertain Framingham State University as the third member of the tri-match.
