Women's Volleyball: Macken, Collins guide Raiders to 3-0 win over UNE

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team earned their sixth straight victory this evening as they defeating visiting University of New England, 3-0 in non-conference action inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. The win improves the Raiders overall record to 11-5 while the Nor'Easters drop to 4-10.

Rivier earned the win by set scores of 25-23, 25-16 and 25-18.

Junior Taylor Dunster (Sutton, Mass.) led the way with a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs. Senior setter Hayley Macken (Clifton Park, N.Y.) dished out 30 assists and freshman Avery Pollard (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) scooped up 12 digs. Senior Taylor White (Dunstable, Mass.) also reached double figures with 11 digs on the night and both junior Jessica Whyte (Plymouth, Mass and freshman Sydney Racevicius (Woodbury, Conn.) each hammered down seven kills in the win. Whyte also finished with four total blocks as graduate Courtney Collins (Litchfield, N.H.) had two toal blocks and six kills.

UNE was paced by the attack of Rene Roggenbuck and Paige Simoneau, who had 8 kills and 6 kills respectively. Sydney Christiansen handed out 21 helpers while Katie Marsh picked up 17 digs along the back line.

The Raiders will look to continue their winning ways this weekend as they head to Gordon College for a non-conference tri-match with the Fighting Scots and the University of Maine-Presque Isle.
