Andreozzi and Nelson Gain GNAC Recognition

Nashua, NH - Rivier athletes Jared Andreozzi (Barrington, RI) and Jake Nelson (Nashua, NH) were named the GNAC Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for their performance in each players respective sport.

Andreozzi, a senior outside hitter for the #5 nationally ranked Men's Volleyball team, led the Raiders to a 3-0 weekend with wins over Elmira College, Wentworth Institute of Technology and Endicott College.  Andreozzi compiled 42 kills over the three matches, with 22 of those kills coming against Elmira College where Jared hit for an impressive .378 hitting percentage.  Over the weekend Jared also led the team with 7 service aces and chipped in 7 blocks and 14 digs to start the Raiders 2011 season.

Nelson, a freshman guard on the Rivier Men's Basketball team, had an impressive week as the Nashua native helped spark the Raiders to a 78-75 win over GNAC foe Mount Ida College.  Nelson scored a season high 15 points in the win with 5 assists.  Nelson was 6-12 from the floor and 3-6 from the 3-point line in 22 minutes of play.
