Tom Poitras Named GNAC Rookie of the Week

Nashua, NH - Rivier College freshman Tom Poitras (Bow, NH) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) rookie of the week after helping the Raiders to a 2-1 opening week in men's basketball competition.

Poitras started all three games for the Raiders, shooting 61.5%, going 8-13 from the floor.  Tom dropped 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds during his first week of collegiate competition and also dished out 6 assists. 

• Older brother Don Poitras (Bow, NH) was named to the GNAC honor roll this week.  Don averaged 14.7 points and 10 rebounds per game over the first three games of the season.  Poitras went 20-31 from the floor and 13-16 from the free throw line during the week.

• Junior Amandra Purcell (Hudson, NH) was also named to the GNAC honor roll this week for her play on the women's basketball team.  Amandra led the team with 17.0 points per game during opening week, playing 34 minutes per game.  Purcell had a team high 9 three pointers during the week and was 14-19 from the free throw line.  She also grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out 11 assists on the week.
