Men's Lacrosse powers past Becker, 16-5

(Leicester, Mass.) Rivier University powered past Becker College 16-5 in non-conference men's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field. The win raises the Raiders to a record of 3-2, while the Hawks drop to 1-6.

It didn't take Rivier long to get on the board, as sophomore Tyler Tambouris (Hooksett, N.H.) scored just 1:16 into the game. With 13:37 left in the second quarter, Becker managed to tie the game at 2-2, with a goal from Avyay Chaganty (Bridgewater, N.J.). Five minutes later, the Raiders answered back, scoring three unanswered goals to finish out the half leading 5-2.

It wasn't until the second half that Rivier began to pull away. The Raiders came out of halftime ready to rumble, as they outscored the Hawks 8-1 in the third quarter, bringing the score to 13-3. They continued their charge in the fourth, ending the game with a final score of 16-5.

Senior Kyle Graham (Londonderry, N.H.) led the Raiders with four goals and one assist. Tambouris added three goals and two assists, while sophomore Joe Kellend (Watertown, Mass.) and freshman Sean Brady (Tewksbury, Mass.) chipped in two goals apiece.

The Hawks were paced by Ryan Kearney (Katonah, N.Y.) who had two goals and one assist.

Rivier University's senior keeper Clark Plummer (Londonderry, N.H.) made 11 saves in the victory, while Jordan Mudd (Decatur, Ga.) suffered the loss with five saves.

Both teams will return to action on Wednesday, March 23rd at 6:00 p.m. when the Raiders host Daniel Webster the Hawks travel to Emerson.
