
Hemmerdinger Becomes First All-American in Rivier Women’s Lacrosse History
SPARKS, Md. – Cassie Hemmerdinger became the first All-American in Rivier University women's lacrosse program history after earning USA Lacrosse Third Team status, the organization announced on Friday. She was the lone member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) to earn All-America accolades.
Hemmerdinger had a stellar junior campaign for the Raiders on defense after earning a USA Lacrosse Preseason All-America Honorable Mention back on February 7.
The Pelham, N.H. native helped Rivier to its most wins since the 2014 campaign as the Raiders went 8-7 overall. She earned All-GNAC Second Team honors with 46 caused turnovers, 58 ground balls, and 55 draw controls while notching eight points on three goals and five assists over 14 starts. Her ground balls total was the seventh most in the conference. With 36 caused turnovers and 43 ground balls against GNAC opponents, she ranked fifth and eighth respectively in those categories conference-wide.
In a 15-4 win over Anna Maria on April 13, Hemmerdinger recorded eight draw controls, seven ground balls, and six caused turnovers.
Hemmerdinger will return for her senior season in 2025 eager to bring the program back to the postseason.
