Women’s Lacrosse Takes Down Mariners, 20-2 

NEW LONDON, Conn. — The Rivier women's lacrosse team won 20-2 against Mitchell in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Saturday afternoon at Mitchell Turf Complex.  

The Raiders move to 8-6 overall and 5-5 in GNAC play, with the Mariners yet to win a contest this season. 

Shining today for the Raiders was Sarah Lachance with four goals, four assists, two ground balls, and eight draw controls. Sofia Cebrero also recorded four goals, one assist, one ground ball, and one draw control. Ashley Wilder contributed with three goals, two assists, one ground ball, and one draw control. Caitlin Newell put away three goals with one assist and three ground balls.  

Rivier rapidly totaled nine goals in the first quarter to Mitchell's one.  

Four more goals were collected by the Raiders in the second, with the Mariners grabbing one. Rivier headed into halftime leading Mitchell 13-2.  

In the second half, Riv did not allow a single Mariners goal. Five goals were tallied in the third quarter and two in the fourth to claim the victory.  

This game marks the least number of goals allowed by the Raiders in 2024.  

Goalkeeper Lindsey Kruger of the Raiders recorded the win.  

The Raiders will play their final GNAC regular season game at home on Merrill Field taking on Saint Joseph's College of Maine with a start time of 6:00 p.m.
