Women’s Lacrosse Picks Up Win in Season Opener

NASHUA, NH: Rivier women's lacrosse won against Thomas College this evening at Joanne Merrill Field in non-conference play.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 3/3/23

- Score: Rivier 7, Thomas 5

- Records: Rivier (1-0, 0-0 GNAC), Thomas (0-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- In the first quarter the Raiders scored first with a goal from Anne McIntosh (Nashua, NH) with the assist credited to McKenna Green (Lowell, MA). Scarlett Raymond-Ayer put away a Terriers goal to tie the game at 1-1.

- The second quarter consisted of seven goals, the first three from the Terriers and then four from the Raiders. Thomas' Alia Chasse, Sage Brown, and Lauren Bartlett from Molly Littlefield earned the goals. Riv's goals were netted by Caitlin Newell (Litchfield, NH), two free position shot goals from Sarah Lachance (Chelmsford, MA), and one from Bailey Carroll (Nashua, NH).

- The single goal in the third quarter was achieved by Cassie Hemmerdinger (Pelham, NH) to put the Raiders up 6-4.

- Green of Rivier buried her second goal of the game in the fourth quarter. Chasse added on the final goal for Thomas with 47 seconds left in the game on a free position shot.

- Lindsey Kruger (New Bedford, MA) was able to save seven shots for the Raiders, taking the win. Lizzy Gotay saved eight shots for the Terriers this evening.

- Penalties: Thomas received two yellow cards and one green card, Rivier received two yellow cards
